Iranian Ambassador Summoned to Foreign Affairs Ministry

On Thursday the Iranian Ambassador in Slovakia Ebrahim Sheibany was summoned to the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry for an official meeting with the Director General for Economic Cooperation Radomir Bohac who expressed grave concern regarding the judicial sentence in the case of a local employee of the UK Embassy in Iran. Hossein Rassam, a political analyst writing on the Iranian political situation, was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of fomenting violence at the behest of the British Government during the unrest that broke out over Iran’s disputed elections in June.The Slovak diplomat pointed out that actions against one EU member state, its citizens or a member of embassy staff are considered actions against the entire EU, conveying the stance of Sweden, the current holder of EU presidency.
