Foreign Affairs Minister Lajcak Meets Japanese Imperial Family in Tokyo

The Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak invited Japanese Princess Takamado to Slovakia during his visit to the imperial residence in Tokyo on Tuesday. In his talks with Princess Takamado, Lajcak noted that the two worked well together in the past and recalled the days when he held the post of Slovak ambassador to Japan. He assessed the changes that have taken place in Slovakia in recent years and thanked Japan for the assistance that it provided to Slovakia during its period of transformation. Lajcak also expressed gratitude at a meeting with Prince Akishino, the second son of Emperor Akihito. Japan helped Slovakia by providing financial means for development and educational projects until Slovakia’s accession to the EU in 2004. Lajcak is on an official visit to Japan at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Katsuya Okada. Apart from Okada and members of the Japanese imperial family, he also plans to meet representatives of the Japanese Parliament.
