Parliament will Debate a Petition on Uranium Mining in Slovakia

In early December MPs will debate a petition against planned uranium mining initiated by environmental organizations with the support of towns, villages and regional self-governments; where surveys of uranium deposits are being carried out. The Parliamentary Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Nature Protection is to submit legislative proposals from the petition to parliament. The goal of the civic initiative is that lawmakers take into consideration all environmental, health and economic risks of the geological surveys and the planned extraction.
