stojí už dvanásty rok v čele Severočeskej filharmónie Teplice. Pod jeho vedením sa teleso rozrástlo a získalo vysoký kredit doma i v zahraničí. Charles Olivieri-Munroe je súčasne aj hlavným dirigentom festivalu "Crested Butte" v Colorade a umeleckým riaditeľom telesa "Interregionales Jugendsinfonieorchester" so sídlom v Nemecku. V rokoch 2001-2004 bol šéfdirigentom Symfonického orchestra Slovenského rozhlasu, pôsobil tiež ako stály dirigent Filharmónie Brno (1995-97) a Karlovarského symfonického orchestra (1993-95).
Počas svojej doterajšej kariéry spolupracoval so špičkovými orchestrami piatich kontinentov (napr. Izraelská filharmónia, Česká filharmónia, Montrealský symfonický orchester, Nemecký symfonický orchester Berlín, Filharmónia St. Peterburg, Dánsky rozhlasový orchester, Symfonický orchester Budapešť, Varšavská filharmónia, Kráľovská filharmónia Brusel, orchestre v Toronte, Oregone, New Yorku, Amsterdame, Frankfurte, Aténach, Istanbule, Lisabone, Tokiu, Soule a Mexiku).
Ako dirigent operných produkcií spolupracoval s Berlínskou komickou operou (Verdiho Falstaff), s benátskym Il Teatro Fenice a s Holandským národným baletom. V minulej sezóne debutoval v Miláne (Mozartov Don Giovanni) a v pražskom Národnom divadle (Dvořákova Stabat Mater). Viedol tri predstavenia Falstaffa v Colorade.
Rodák z Toronta vyštudoval klavírnu hru na Kráľovskom konzervatóriu a Univerzite v Toronte. Po promócii získal roku 1992 štipendium, ktoré mu umožnilo ďalšie vzdelanie, tentokrát na brnenskej JAMU u Otakara Trhlíka. Následne študoval u Jiřího Bělohlávka a v rámci letnej L'Accademia Musicale Chigiana v Siene u Ilju Musina a Jurija Temirkanova (1995-96). K oslnivej kariére mu pomohli skvelé výsledky v medzinárodných dirigentských súťažiach. Vrcholom se stalo víťazstvo na Medzinárodnej súťaži Pražského jara (2000), kde Olivieri-Munroe získal aj ceny Supraphonu, Hlavného mesta Prahy a Českého rozhlasu.
Vo svojich 39 rokoch je Charles Olivieri-Munroe neprehliadnuteľnou osobnosťou umeleckého života v Česku. Pravidelne sa vracia k Českej filharmónii, na MHF Pražské jaro, od predminulého roku pôsobí ako pedagóg na dirigentskom oddelení pražskej AMU. Nedávno uzavrel zmluvu s prestížnym vydavateľstvom SONY-BMG. Záverom spomeňme "Sinfoniettu" legendárneho Karla Ančerla, skladbu, ktorú dirigent Olivieri-Munroe objavil v Toronte a ktorú naštuduje pre niekoľko uvedení, vrátane nahrávky so Symfonickým orchestrom BBC.

Charles Olivieri-Munroe is currently in his 12th season as a Chief Conductor of the North Czech Philharmonic in Teplice. Under his leadership this ensemble has increased in its size and has earned high national and international reputation. Last season he was named Principal Conductor of the Colorado "Crested Butte" Festival and Artistic Director of the "Interregionales Jugendsinfonieorchester" in Germany. He previously held positions as Chief Conductor of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (2001-2004), as resident Conductor of the Brno Philharmonic (1995-97) and Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (1993-95).
Charles Olivieri-Munroe´s career took him across five continents where he appeared with many of the world´s finest orchestras (the Israel Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Berlin German Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Danish Radio Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic, Royal Brussels Philharmonic, symphony orchestras in Toronto, Oregon, New York, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Athens, Istanbul, Lisbon, Tokyo, Seoul and Mexico City).
As conductor of opera productions Olivieri-Munroe cooperated with the Berlin Komishe Oper (conducting Verdi´s Falstaff), Il Teatro Fenice in Venice and with Netherlands National Ballet. Last season he made his conducting debut in Milan conducting Mozart´s Don Giovanni and in Prague National Opera with Dvorák´s Stabat Mater. He led three new productions of Verdi´s Falstaff in Colorado.
A native of Toronto, Charles Olivieri-Munroe studied the piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. Following his graduation in 1992 he won scholarships that allowed him to continue in studies with Otakar Trhlík at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. He was also student of Jiří Bělohlávek and Ilja Musin and Jurij Těmirkanov within summer L'Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (1995/96). His brilliant career was launched by a series of triumphs in the international conducting competitions culminating with his winning the First Prize in the 2000 "Prague Spring International Music Festival" Conducting Competition in which he also won the prizes offered by Supraphon Records, city of Prague and by Czech Radio.
Now aged 39, Charles Olivieri-Munroe is a key personality of the Czech artistic life. He appears regularly with Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, at Prague Spring International Festival. Last year he was appointed a pedagogue at the Conducting Faculty of Prague Academy of Music. Recently he has concluded contract with the prestigious SONY-BMG Publishing House. He has also made the extraordinary discovery in Toronto of the legendary Czech conductor Karel Ancerl´s composition "Sinfonietta" which he will be conducting in several performances, including recording with BBC Symphony Orchestra.
