Sólista opery SND patrí k najvýznamnejším reprezentantom slovenského vokálneho umenia svojej generácie. Študoval na Konzervatóriu a VŠMU v Bratislave (Eva Blahová). Vzdelanie si rozšíril na Mozartovej Akadémii v Prahe u Ileany Cotrubas, neskôr u Carla Bergonziho v Siene, ako aj u Helmutha Rillinga a Wolfganga Schöneho na Medzinárodnej Bachovej akadémii v Stuttgarte. Zúčastnil sa aj medzinárodných interpretačných kurzoch v Piešťanoch. Je laureátom viacerých domácich a zahraničných súťaží (Medzinárodná spevácka súťaž A. Dvořáka v Karlových Varoch: r. 1992 - 2. cena, r. 1993 - absolútny víťaz tejto súťaže, r. 1994 3. cena na Medzinárodnej opernej súťaži v Siene a 1. cena na Medzinárodnej speváckej súťaži M. Schneidera - Trnavského, v roku 1995 finalista na Medzinárodnej súťaži L. Pavarottiho). Je držiteľom Ceny nemeckého časopisu Opernwelt roku 1993 v rámci Speváckej súťaže Belvedere a finalistom TIJI v Ljubljane roku 1998.
Roku 1992 debutoval ako Leporello v Komornej opere v Prahe. Odvtedy účinkoval v mnohých európskych operných domoch ako napr.: Grand Théâtre v Ženeve (Smetanova Predaná nevesta), Théâtre de la Monnaie v Bruseli a Théâtre du Rhin v Štrasburgu (Mozartova Zaida), Opera v Nagoyi (Mozartov Don Giovanni), Belo Horizonte v Brazílii (Mozartov Don Giovanni), Komorná opera vo Viedni (Gluckov Le Calender) a Teatro Massimo Palermo (Modrofúz, a Cathos v Ibertovej Persée et Andromede). Predstavil sa aj na Berkshirskom opernom festivale v USA (Don Giovanni), v Kanadskej opernej spoločnosti v Toronte (Rossiniho Cesta do Remeša a Talianska v Alžíri, Musorgského Boris Godunov) a Luzernský festival. Naštudoval už 36 operných operných basových postáv. Na scéne SND ho môžeme vidieť v postavách Osmina, Dulcamaru, Leporella, Alidora, Waltera, Modrofúza, Figara, Gremina, Vodníka a iných.
Ako koncertný spevák vystúpil s významnými medzinárodnými dirigentmi a orchestrami (napr. Drážďanská filharmónia, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Symfonický orchester hl. mesta Prahy FOK, Orchestre National de France, Orchestra Metropolitana Lisboa, New Jersey Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Cammerata New York, National Orchestra of Taiwan, Bavorský a Viedenský rozhlasový orchester, Berlínska filharmónia, Londýnska filharmónia a i.). Je pravidelným hosťom Slovenskej a Českej filharmónie, Symfonického orchestra Českého rozhlasu. Spolupracoval s renomovanými dirigentmi ako Sir Charles Mackerras, Zdeněk Mácal, Serge Baudo, Jiří Bělohlávek, Vladimír Válek, Aylton Escobar, Jurij Temirkanov, András Ligeti, Dennis Russel Davies, Marris Jansons, Libor Pešek, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur a iní. Jeho repertoár zahŕňa viac ako štyridsať omší a oratórií.
G. Beláček spolupracuje s rozhlasovými a televíznymi spoločnosťami, ako aj s rôznymi vydavateľstvami (Opus, Supraphon, Slovart, Delos).
Nahrávka Dvořákovho Rekviem, ktorú realizoval s New Jersey Symphony Orchestra pod vedením Zdenka Mácala pre firmu Delos Label, bola ocenená roku 2001 americkou Grammy.

Native of Zvolen, Slovakia, Gustáv Beláček is a resident soloist at the Slovak National Opera Theatre where he has been heard as Osmin in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail", also as Dulcamara in "L´ Elisir d´Amore", Leporello in "Don Giovanni", Alidoro in "Cenerentola", the title role in Bartók´s "Bluebeard´s castle", Thibaud in "Tchaikovsky´s Maid of Orleans", the Water Gnome in Dvořák´s "Rusalka", Svallow in Britten´s "Peter Grimes", Gremin in Tchaikovsky´s "Eugene Onegin" and "Figaro" in Mozart´s "Le Nozze di Figaro".
In the 2006-2007 season, Mr Beláček will start performing songs and opera arias at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan with Maestro Daniele Ferrari followed by the role of "Leporello" in Mozart´s "Don Giovanni" at the Janaček Oper Brno, Mozart´s C minor Mass in the Bratislava Music Festival and Brno´s Sacred Music Festival with the Radio Symphonieorchester of Vienna and Maestro Martin Brabbins besides Handel´s Messiah at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb and the Budapest Nationalhalle with Maestro Russel Davies. In march 2007, Mr Beláček will sing the G major mass by Schubert and the Saint Cecile Mass by Gounod with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich, Germany and in Luzern, Switzerland with maestro Mariss Jansons.
In may 2007, Mr Beláček will reccord Bartók´s Bluebard´s Castle with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Marin Alsop for the label Naxos. This performance will also be on BBC Radio 3.
In the 2005-06 season, he performed the role of Ramfis in Verdi´s Aida at National Theatre in Prague, Count Bluebeard in Bartók´s Bluebeard´s Castle and Monster Cathos in Ibert´s Persée et Andromede at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Beethoven´s 9th Symphony in the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Haydn´s Seasons in La Sapienza University in Rome to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the institution, Leporello in Mozart´s Don Giovanni in the Gars am Kamp Festival and Dvorak´s Requiem in the Rheingau Festival, Germany among several other roles in the Slovak National Theatre and Prague´s States Theatre and National Theatre.
Gustáv Beláček performed in major Opera Houses throughout Europe, including the Grand Théâtre de Geneva (Smetana´s "Bartered bride"), the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Théâtre du Rhin in Strasbourg (Mozart´s "Zaide"/Osmin), the Nagoya Opera in Japan ("Don Giovanni"/Masetto), the Palácio das Artes in Brazil, the Vienna Kammeroper (Gluck´s "La rencontre imprevue") and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo (Bartók´s The Bluebeard´s Castle and Ibert´s Persée et Andromede).
In North America he sang the Commendatore ("Don Giovanni") at the Berkshire Opera Festival and with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto he performed Don Profondo in Rossini´s "Il Viaggio a Reims", Pimen in "Boris Godunov", and most successfully Mustafa in "L´Italiana in Algeri".
Beláček sings with renowned conductors such as Sir Charles Mackerras, Zdenek Macal, Serge Baudo, Jiri Belohlavek, Aylton Escobar, Jean-Paul Penin, Yuri Termikanov, Andras Ligeti, Libor Pesek, Chrisian Arming, Charles Dutoit and Kurt Masur. He has performed in some of the most prestigious concert venues and music festivals around the world, including Amsterdam´s Concertgebouw, Brussels´s Palais de Beaux-Arts and Conservatoire Royal de Musique, Prague Spring Festival, Mitte Europa, Rheingau Festival, Lucerne Festival zu Ostern, Berliner Symphoniker besides the BBC Proms in London.
His orchestral appearance includes performances with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Dresden Philharmonic, Prague Symphony, L´Orchestre National de France, New Jersey Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Camerata New York, National Orchestra of Taiwan, Vienna´s Radio-Symphonieorchester and the London Philharmonic among others. He is a regular guest of the Slovak and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras and the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Gustáv Beláček records at Opus, Supraphon, Slovart, and Delos, which released works by Schubert, Beethoven, Haydn, Suchon, Dvorák, Smetana, Glinka, Rubinstein, Ibert, Bruckner and Liszt. The CD of Dvořák´s Requiem with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra conducted by Zdenek Mácal and released by Delos was honoured with a Grammy Award.
Graduated at the Bratislava Academy of Music with Professor Eva Blahova, he continued his studies at the Mozart Academy in Prague with Ileana Contrubas, in Italy with Carlo Bergonzi, and in Germany with Helmut Hilling and Wolfgang Schöne at the International Bach Academy Stuttgart. Gustáv won numerous international singing competitions including the International Opera Competition in Siena and the International Vocal Competition of Antonín Dvořák in 1993. He is also a holder of the German Opernwelt magazine prize of the 1993 Belvedere Singing competition and a finalist of the 1998 TIJI in Ljubljana.
