Peter Kosorín sa narodil 5. júna 1981 v Žiari nad Hronom v hudobníckej rodine.
Po absolvovaní ZUŠ v odbore hra na klavír bol prijatý na Štátne konzervatórium v Bratislave, kde vyštudoval hru na bicích nástrojoch v triede Ondreja Štefaňára. Keďže do roku 2006 nebola na bratislavskom konzervatóriu marimba a výučba hry na tento nástroj tu nemala tradíciu, naučil sa naň hrať ako samouk. Cvičil na marimbe, ktorú si vyrobil so svojim otcom, nakoľko v tej dobe nemal peniaze na zakúpenie originálneho nástroja.
Aj napriek týmto zložitým podmienkam sa už ako poslucháč konzervatória v roku 1999 zúčastnil II. ročníka Interpretačnej súťaže v hre na bicích nástrojoch v Brne, kde v kategórii melodických bicích nástrojov získal prvé miesto. V roku 2001 získal opäť prvé miesto na III. ročníku tejto súťaže v Ostrave.
Ešte ako študent konzervatória v roku 1999 úspešne účinkoval na Medzinárodnom hudobnom festivale Melos-Étos v umeleckej spolupráci s americkou perkusionistkou Amy Lynn Barber.
V poslednom ročníku konzervatória bol už členom skupiny bicích nástrojov Symfonického orchestra Slovenského rozhlasu, kde strávil sezónu 2000/2001. V roku 2001 začal spolupracovať ako tympanista s komorným orchestrom mesta Bratislavy CAPPELLA ISTROPOLITANA, s ktorým dodnes vystupuje na pódiách v Nemecku, Rakúsku, Švajčiarsku, Francúzsku, Španielsku, ako aj na Slovensku - napríklad každoročne na koncerte Hommage á Lucia Popp. V roku 2006 dokonca vystúpil s týmto orchestrom v Primaciálnom paláci v Bratislave ako sólista v 1. marimbovom koncerte Neya Rosaura.
V roku 2002 mu bola udelená cena primátora mesta Bratislavy za úspešnú reprezentáciu školy a mesta. V tom istom roku bol prijatý na Janáčkovu akadémiu múzických umení v Brne. Tu študoval pod vedením doc. Martina Opršála (sólová hra na bicích nástrojoch a komorná hra) a doc. Pavla Šumpíka (orchestrálna hra).
V roku 2004 sa zúčastnil na Medzinárodnej marimbovej súťaži v Saint-Truiden v Belgicku, kde postúpil do druhého kola medzi štyridsať najlepších marimbistov z celého sveta a získal cenu agentúry Classic Concert.
V priebehu štúdia v Brne absolvoval niekoľko majstrovských kurzov a seminárov - v hre na marimbu u Katarzyny Myćky, Marty Klimasary a Williama Moercha, v hre na tympany u prof. Klausa Tresselta a v hre na multipercussion u Jeffa Beera.
Počas štúdia na JAMU sa tiež predstavil na viacerých sólových vystúpeniach po Slovensku (Bratislava - Fórum mladých talentov 2004, marimbový recitál v Šali a ďalších mestách) aj v Českej republike (Velké Meziříčí, Brno, Ostrava - Medzinárodný festival Ostravský buben).
V oblasti komornej hudby spolupracoval s Percussion ensemble JAMU, Percussion ensemble Stuttgart a Melos-Étos ensemblom. V roku 2006 úspešne ukončil štúdium na JAMU absolventským koncertom, na ktorom hral na svoj najobľúbenejší nástroj - marimbu. Prínosná bola aj jeho diplomová práca s názvom Príručka mierne pokročilého hráča na marimbu, v ktorej sa zameral predovšetkým na históriu vzniku tohto nástroja, na všetky možné spôsoby držania štyroch paličiek a celkovo na problematiku techniky hry na marimbu.
Od septembra 2008 pôsobí ako prvý tympanista v Slovenskej filharmónii a spolupracuje aj so Symfonickým orchestrom Slovenského rozhlasu ako sólo tympanista. Taktiež je pedagógom hry na bicích nástrojoch na Štátnom konzervatóriu v Bratislave. So spolužiakom z JAMU a kolegom - tympanistom Filharmonie Brno Lukášom Krejčím tvoria duo PERCUDOS.

Peter Kosorín was born on 5th June 1981 in Žiar nad Hronom in a musical family. After completing piano education at the elementary school of music he passed the exams at the State Conservatory of Bratislava where he studied percussion instruments with Ondrej Štefaňár. Until 2006 there was no marimba at the Conservatory and therefore no tradition of playing and teaching this instrument. So Peter was an autodidact in playing the marimba. He practiced on a marimba he made with his father at home because he didn´t have money to buy an original instrument.
Although he didn´t have optimal conditions he participated in 1999 at the 2nd Interpretative Percussion Instruments Competition in Brno where he was awarded with the first prize in the category of melodic percussion instruments. In 2001 he received again the first prize at the 3rd Interpretative Competition in Ostrava. As a student of the Conservatory he took part also in the International Music Festival Melos-Étos in 1999 where he performed along with the American percussionist Amy Lynn Barber.
In his last year at the Conservatory he was already a member of the percussion section in the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra where he stayed the whole season 2000/2001. In 2001 he has started a co-operation with the chamber orchestra of Bratislava called CAPPELLA ISTROPOLITANA. He has been playing in this orchestra up today mostly in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Spain but also in Slovakia, e. g. annually at the concert Hommage a Lucia Popp. In 2006 he performed with Cappella Istropolitana as a soloist in the 1st Marimba Concerto by Ney Rosauro.
In 2002 he received the award from the Chief Magistrate of the city of Bratislava for a successful representation of the school as well as of the city. In the same year he was accepted by the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts to continue his percussion studies.
There he studied with doc. Martin Opršál (melodic percussion instruments and chamber playing) and with doc. Pavel Šumpík (orchestral playing). In 2004 he participated at the International Marimba competition in Saint-Truiden in Belgium where he proceeded into the second round among the fourty best marimbists of the world and received a special prize from the music agency Classic Concert.
During his studies in Brno he attended various masterclasses and seminars - marimba classes with Katarzyna Myćka, Marta Klimasara and William Moerch, timpani classes with prof. Klaus Tresselt and multipercussion classes with Jeff Beer.
He gave also a couple of solo performances in Slovakia (Bratislava - Forum of young tallents 2004, marimba recital in Šala and other towns) as well as in the Czech Republic (Velké Meziříčí, Brno, Ostrava - International Festival Ostrava´s Drum). In the field of chamber music he cooperated with the Percussion Ensemble JAMU, Percussion Ensemble Stuttgart and Melos-Éthos ensemble.
In 2006 he successfully graduated from JAMU by playing a concert on his beloved instrument - marimba. Also his dissertation called Handbook for intermediate marimbists about the history and technique of playing this instrument was a valuable contribution into this field.
Since September 2008 he has been the first timpanist of the Slovak Philharmonic and he co-operates as solo timpanist with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. He also teaches percussion instruments at the State Conservatory of Bratislava.
He has formed a duo with his mate and collegue - the timpanist of the Philharmonic Brno Lukáš Krejčí called PERCUDOS.
Peter is playing the 5octave marimba BERGERAULT.
